Day 248

05/09/2016 Reykjavik - Gerdi (Island)

On the way to Seydisfjördur, where on Wednesday our ferry to Denmark departs, we visited three of the most famous sights in southern Iceland.

The first stop we made at the Seljalandsfoss waterfall. On a steep and wet way you can even walk behind the over 200 ft. plunging water. You only shouldn't be afraid of water...

20 miles away is the larger Skógafoss waterfall.

Shortly before our destination Gerdi, halfway between Reykjavík and Seydisfjördur, we saw the first glaciers.

Here there is the Jökulsárlón, one of the best known and largest glacial lakes. Across this lake the glacier water of Vatnajökull flows through a narrow access directly into the Atlantic Ocean. In the water countless icebergs are floating, they shine, depending on the light, in different colors.
