03/04/2016 Los Angeles - Williams/Grand Canyon (USA)
Around 435 miles was our trip today from Los Angeles to Williams/Grand Canyon in Arizona. Only one short traffic jam and then we escaped from the big-city traffic. As more we drove towards east the highway got more empty and the landscape got more impressive.
After about 2/3 of today's leg we crossed the border of Arizona, here the clock skipped for one hour, because of the new time zone. The highest value on the outside thermometer was 100 degrees F.
At 5pm and after 7.5 hours driving we reached our day’s destination Williams near the Grand Canyon.

After breakfast Don Steger and Ron Ferguson arrived at the hotel to go with us to San Diego.
After two hours we reached the pre-arranged meeting place Mission Bay Park, where already Gordon Carpenter and the San Diego guys with 6 Deloreans were waiting for us. Gordon had planned with his wife Cathy the route today in advance.
Passing the Pacific we drove along the Ocean Beach and put a photo stop at the Midway aircraft carrier, which is a museum ship at the port of San Diego.
We went over the 3.5 km long Coronado Bridge to a grill restaurant for lunch with a following photo shoot.
In the afternoon, the famous Hotel Del Coronado, the oldest and largest wooden building in California was on the program. After another photo shoot and interview of the World Tour team for the Delorean Owners Association we said goodbye and went home to Los Angeles. Thanks again to Gordon and Cathy Carpenter for the day's organization!

Today Wolfgang and Klaus were only in twos on the way, Andre has a cold and took a day off to recover.
As first day's destination we visited the Petersen Automotive Museum, that owns one of the three original golden Deloreans. Unfortunately, the car isn't open to the public, you have to book the 'Vault´Tour', to take a look at it. After we've told tour guide Forest and two employees of the technic crew the story of our World tour and of Wolfgang's golden Delorean, we were allowed to take a closer look at the 'piece of gold' and also to take some pictures (it's normally forbidden there).
After that we drove to Claudia Wells boutique, she played Marty's girlfriend Jennifer Parker in 'Back to the Future I'. Shared photos, autographs and 'Save the clock tower'-T-shirts were our gain.
Final destination today was the Canyon Lake Drive in the hills of Hollywood, a viewpoint with a outlook to the famous Hollywood sign.

In the morning we first did a technical service. At 8:30am Skip Vaughan arrived with his Cadillac and gave us a ride to Don Steger , who provided us his garage and driveway for our work.
grease the ball joints
oil change and filter replacement
valve adjusting
air conditioning service
During the morning Ron Ferguson and Gordon Carpenter visited us for recording our work and the all the technical details of the cars for the next DeloreanWorld magazine. We will meet Gordon again on Thursday during our trip to San Diego.
The group picture.
In the afternoon we visited DMC California in Huntington Beach, here we were welcomed by owner Cameron Wynne with his team led by the leading mechanic Danny Botkin.
Our visit had apparently spread very quickly around the LA Delorean scene. A few Delorean driver came and visited us with their cars and took a look at the world tour cars. Especially the electric power steering has been admired and aroused new needs in which one or other owner.
At the end of the day we made a trip to the Griffith Observatory above Los Angeles, where you get a fantastic view of the city and you also can see the Hollywood sign from there.
Today’s question: Who knows this tunnel on the way to the Observatory?
little hint : Back to Future part 2
