Day 246

05/07/2016 Reykjavik (Island)

'Gullni hringurinn' = 'The Golden Ring' or 'Golden Circle' is a route on which some of the most famous sights, starting from Reykjavik, are on a day to visit.

We had chosen the right time, this morning, the sun was shining on a clear blue sky.

The first destination was the former Thing Field Þingvellir, where the traditional legislative meeting was held in the Middle Ages.

Then we drove to the 'Great Geysir', which is the namesake for all geysers. The main geyser is quiet for a few decades, but the 300 ft. distant 'Strokkur' erupts every 5-7 minutes.
