Day 42

October 16th 2015 Bhopal Chhatarpur (India)

Today it was a pure driving day. Because of the bad road conditions (and thats only an understatement) it took us longer than calculated. But we reached this days destination Chhatarpur resp. Khajuraho.

Here are some pictures of today:

Day 41

10/15/2015 Dhule - Bhopal (India)

This morning our navigation system calculated 7 hours 15 minutes for the 458 km from Dhule to Bhopal and to the minute we met this forecast.

There were no special events on the track, just the daily Indian traffic madness...

At the toll booths, we were surrounded immediately:

Quadrupeds of all kinds are on the edge of the highway or coming on towards one of the opposite lanes from time to time:

Day 40

10/04/2015 Dhule (India)

At 8 am we started in the heaviest morning rush hour to our first stage through India, that
leaded us 350km from Mumbai to Dhule.

What's named highway here, is on our standards at best a double-track 'Landstraße' with greater need for rehabilitation. In India driving a car is still a challenge, deep potholes, here and there sections with dirt roads, speed bumps in many junctions and not least the chaotic traffic, where everybody drives as he/she wants. And for that you have to pay motorway toll every few kilometers!

Double-track roads are basically used with 3-4 vehicles side by side, also there are the bicycles, Pedestrians and four-legged friends of all kinds. Not only a few times a wrong-way driver drove towards us (even trucks!!!), then you avoid a collision and it's ok. What leads to an immediate driving ban in Germany is the common practice here...

Here some impressions of today's route:

At about half past two we reached our hotel 'Residency Park' in Dhule, speed average around 35 mph, more isn't possible here.

Day 39

10/13/10.2015 Mumbai (India)

After three long weeks of waiting we finally drive Delorean again……

At 12pm we had an appointment with our shipping agent Mustafa Merchant at the entrance gate of Nhava Sheva port, where we got our access passes.

Now we had first of all more than one and half hour waiting , while Mustafa was collecting signatures and stamps. In the meantime a container forklift transferred the three containers from the storage area to the customs building.

Then it finally happened and we were present when the three boxes were unsealed and opened.

Our three Deloreans survived the shipping undamaged and they start at first attempt.

Afterwards we drove our cars to the customs building where a customs officer checked the data and serial numbers of the Deloreans. As soon as we were in the parking area , the first onlookers stood around the vehicles, it did not changed until the evening.

The complete customs and import procedures and checking the containers of any damage also needs it's time. From Mustafa we received the car-insurance for India and Nepal, because our German insurance policy is not valid here.

In the end we could leave the port area at 6:45 pm and now we are probably the first Deloreans , which are on the move in India.

In the dark with the chaotic Indian rush-hour traffic we drove the 12,5 miles to the hotel, but we survived!

Todays destination: Park three Deloreans in front of the hotel. Reached !

Day 38

10/12/2015 Mumbai (India)

After the breakfast we made a trip to the nearby city of Panvel, where we could experience the pulsating lively life of the city. Hundreds of small shops , craftsman shops and temple lined the streets,  there were no other tourists but us to see.

We received positive and negative impressions , some views were still getting used to for us Europeans.
