Day 40

10/04/2015 Dhule (India)

At 8 am we started in the heaviest morning rush hour to our first stage through India, that
leaded us 350km from Mumbai to Dhule.

What's named highway here, is on our standards at best a double-track 'Landstraße' with greater need for rehabilitation. In India driving a car is still a challenge, deep potholes, here and there sections with dirt roads, speed bumps in many junctions and not least the chaotic traffic, where everybody drives as he/she wants. And for that you have to pay motorway toll every few kilometers!

Double-track roads are basically used with 3-4 vehicles side by side, also there are the bicycles, Pedestrians and four-legged friends of all kinds. Not only a few times a wrong-way driver drove towards us (even trucks!!!), then you avoid a collision and it's ok. What leads to an immediate driving ban in Germany is the common practice here...

Here some impressions of today's route:

At about half past two we reached our hotel 'Residency Park' in Dhule, speed average around 35 mph, more isn't possible here.
